The IPN reports to the community the students of class 1001, Juan José Álvarez Sosa and Laura María Barreto Calderón participated in the international event “The 2nd Exchange Program for Latin-American Young People”, between September 8 and 16, that took place in Amsterdam and The Hague, under the cooperation covenant signed between the UPN, Colombia, and the Centro Ana Frank Argentina para América Latina.

In this program, the visitors had the opportunity to see the Anna Frank House, the Auschwitz Memorial, the Historical Center, the Jewish Town and other places, and they could also listen to ambassadors and officials talk about their duties and different perspectives of the world.

Dr. Alexander Ruiz Silva, professor at UPN, and María Silenia Villalobos Quevedo, teacher at IPN, also participated in this trip. She said, “The goal is to promote knowledge of the Holocaust and non-repetition to motivate new generations to practice collective memory and recognize the victims. The leaders of the project want to contribute to a society of peace and reconciliation, something critical that challenges all types of conflict.”

With this experience, students may have a training space related to testimonial literature, history, and pedagogy that requires the study, discussion, and understanding of Ana Frank’s diary.
