The National Education Forum 2023 began in our Instituto Pedagógico Nacional (IPN), where all members of the education sector will meet to discuss various issues related to education in the country.

The cultural performance of the Canta Bogotá Canta chorus was part of this meeting space for the education sector, which was attended by the Minister of Education Aurora Vergara, the Vice-Minister of Higher Education Alejandro Álvarez, Néstor Iván Osuna, Minister of Justice, and the vice-chancellor of the UPN Adolfo León Atehortúa.

“We are proud to host the National Education Forum at the IPN and, of course, at UPN. We hosted it in 2015, and we are hosting it again now, bringing together teachers from all over the country to discuss and reflect on very important current issues in education. Holding this Forum is precisely to strengthen the work of the University and it is a recognition that we are trainers of trainers to choose the Institute as the venue for this event,” said Adolfo León Atehortúa Cruz, Vice-Chancellor (E) of the Universidad Pedagógica Nacional.

On the other hand, the Vice-Minister of Higher Education, Alejandro Álvarez Gallego, said that in his opinion, this type of event is part of education policy, as this is increasingly a commitment that must exist, that these forums are spaces to discuss policy, and therefore on this occasion the themes will be diversity, interculturalism and inclusion. For Álvarez, we are a diverse, multi-ethnic and pluricultural country, and from her point of view, that is what education from pre-school to higher education is all about.

The Minister of Education, Aurora Vergara, welcomed the meeting, which she defined as an opportunity to consolidate a great meeting of knowledge that will lead to the development of new ways of approaching education.

On the other hand, Néstor Iván Osuna, Minister of Justice, spoke at the event on issues such as the relationship between educational opportunities and the construction of a fairer society, the eradication of illiteracy and training in prisons.

In addition, “Sueños Apagados” (Extinguished Dreams), a theatrical work by the young creators of Choco, was presented, which shows significant cultural experiences and life stories that are born in this Department.

The reflections of the National Education Forum 2023 began with the space on the Right to Education and Diversity, led by the Vice-Minister of Higher Education, Alejandro Álvarez Gallego.
